With support from the Joyce Meyer Ministries more than 500 children have access to two meals every week day and a few coming on weekends. More than half of the children that come to CTT for assistance show signs of malnourishment, underweight and stunt growth. After a few weeks of highly nutritious food the children show improvement both physically and mentally. Since most of these children are only allowed to come to the CTT during the week, weekends and holidays present a major food challenge for these vulnerable children. Food security programme that addresses the long term problem of continued food insecurity at household level needs to be put in place urgently. CTT has set up a nutrition garden that enables some of the critical children to take home fruits and vegetables. The children and caregivers are imparted with sustainable agriculture skills, food processing, indigenous food production, small livestock production as well as bee keeping.
